Where can I return my used batteries?

Batteries belong to the category small chemical waste. You can hand in your empty batteries to the chemo cart in your municipality or to other collection points. You cannot throw batteries in the regular garbage bin.

Return empty batteries

You can hand in your empty batteries to:

  • the chemo cart in your municipality;
  • the municipal depot;
  • the battery box of the store that sells the batteries;
  • at the drop-off points.

Processing batteries

Battery producers and importers are responsible for the disposal of the batteries they put on the market. This is laid down in the Battery Management Decree. The Battery Foundation ( STIBAT ) takes care of transport, storage and processing of the separately collected batteries from the municipal border.
