Crying because of my body: 8 insecurities that are absolutely false!

Summer body insecurities

Sun’s out, buns out! The summer has started again. However, not many people feel comfortable parading around the beach in their bare skin. Many feel strong social pressure to have the perfect summer body and that causes a lot of insecurities for many people. But hey, every body is a summer body! Here’s a list of 8 insecurities you can kiss goodbye as of today.

Try to change your mindset

Instead of following a crash diet, exercising in the gym at least six times a week and living completely sugar free, it might be a better idea to consider a more realistic goal: stop feeling bad about your body! Treat negative thoughts like an ex who treated you badly and banish them from your life. Every time you have a negative thought, think about what a wonderful human being you are and remember that you always deserve to have positive emotions.

“It might be a better idea to consider a more realistic goal: stop feeling bad about your body!”

#1 “I hate my love handles/vitiligo/scars.”

You are probably the only one who is so critical about that part of your body. Have you ever looked at someone and thought “Ugh, they should be ashamed of themselves!” No? Thought so 😉

#2 “I feel so fat…”

Yeah, okay. Maybe tomorrow you’ll feel like a toothpick and be craving pizza. Who cares?

#3 “Once I lose a few pounds, I’ll be presentable.”

You’re not Regina George and you’re certainly not living in Mean Girls. So who cares about those few extra pounds? A crash diet only results in a yo-yo effect and you definitely don’t want that. Every body is gorgeous; whether you are 8 stone or 23 stone or something in between. When you feel absolutely uncomfortable with your body, find a durable lifestyle that works for you.

#4 “I’m too white to walk around in swimwear.”

Every body is beautiful, whatever skin colour. That’s it!

#5 “My belly isn’t flat enough.”

Call the newspaper: Everybody has some meat on their bones. This doesn’t exactly make you stand out from the crowd in any particular way. Having a full figure is beautiful and healthy. So leave it alone and learn to love it.

#6 “That scar is way to prominent…”

Are you ashamed of a certain scar? Don’t be! A scar is a sign of survival and emphasises that you are still here, have put a life on earth, that you fought your way out of something, etc.

#7 “If only I could go back to the body I had when I was sixteen…”

Yeah, and I wish I was on a beach in Jamaica sipping a cocktail instead of writing this post in the living room with a cat in heat. But I’m not. And you know what? My life is still incredible.

#8 “I think my cellulite is disgusting.”

Everybody has cellulite! You could probably pinch the legs of a couple of fashion models and discover that they have cellulite as well. And if they don’t, they probably belong to 0.000000000000001 per cent of the population who doesn’t. You are normal and it is beautiful.

Remember: your appearance doesn’t make you unhappy, it’s thinking about your appearance makes you unhappy.”
