What’s an anal douche?

Using an anal douche

General guidelines when using an anal douche

To perform an enema as well and safely as possible, it’s advisable to follow these guidelines:

• Go to the toilet before you start an anal douche so that most of the stool is out of your bowel.
• Apply enough lubricant to the anal douche to make insertion easier.
• Use lukewarm water. The water shouldn’t be too hot or too cold.
• Let the water flow in slowly. Stop when the rectum feels full. Usually, 1 to 2 cups of water are sufficient.
• Take the nozzle or the attachment out of your anus and keep the water in by tightening your sphincter.
• Then walk around and rock back and forth. The bowel is an organ with lots of twists and turns. By moving around, you ensure that the water can cleanse as much as possible before you release it.
• Sit on the toilet and relax the sphincter. This is how you let the water out of your anus. Be careful not to apply pressure!

Please note! Repetition is necessary so that all the water is finally washed out. It doesn’t come out in one go. Always sit down on the toilet when you feel the urge.

Don’t use an anal douche more than twice a month. Our intestinal flora consists of bad and good bacteria. These good bacteria are necessary for a healthy and functioning digestive and immune system. Rinse carefully
