Sexercise – Get fit through sex

Sexercise

Fitness centres, team sports, diets, and weight loss pills are not necessary at all. There’s a much better option for weight loss, fitness improvement and overall health improvement – sex workouts! This is also known as sexercise; a form of sex to stay in shape.

Sexercise – what’s that?

The concept of sexercise was coined by Kamasutra visionary Jason Page. Sexercises are physical exercises that you do prior to or even during sex. Sexercise is often part of a “sex diet” – a lifestyle with which you try to maximise the benefits of sex.

“Sexercises are physical exercises that you do prior to or even during sex.”

Sexercise can range from Kegel exercises to train the pelvic floor muscles to aerobic and cardiovascular sex training. With sports like running and cycling, you improve the condition of your lungs, heart, and muscles. You’ll feel fitter and stronger, so you’ll perform better between the sheets!

Training the pelvic floor muscles

Exercising the pelvic floor muscles can be beneficial to your sex life and you can burn some calories too.

Benefits of pelvic floor training:

  • More intense sexual experience and orgasms
  • More control over your orgasms
  • More control over your pelvic floor muscles
  • Can remedy pain during sex
  • No incontinence problems (anymore)

By training your pelvic floor muscles, women can exercise more control over the muscles of the vagina. This increases the sensations you experience during sex. Men with a weak pelvic floor have more difficulty controlling their orgasm. A weak pelvic floor can also cause erection problems. In this case, it takes more effort to maintain the erection.

“With a weak pelvic floor, erectile dysfunction can also occur.”

Fortunately, there are several (Kegel) exercises for both men and women to train the pelvic floor!

Sex toys for sexercise

Sex toys can also be part of your sexercise. Vagina balls can help train the pelvic floor muscles. The muscles of the vagina have to work to keep the balls in place, so the muscles become stronger.

A dildo with a suction cup is perfect for when you are without a partner or if they are away from home. These dildos can be attached to any smooth and flat surface, allowing you to perform different positions hands-free. There are also sex swings and slings available that allow for the most flexible positions

Have lots of sex!

By combining sex and fitness, you create a positive routine. Having sex makes you fit and when you’re fit, you’ll simply get in the mood easier as well. Sex also improves your circulation, strengthens your heart, improves your cholesterol levels and burns calories. You’ll be healthier, stronger, more flexible and slimmer. In short: sexercise improves the quality of your life!

Yoga exercises for better sex

Yoga exercises help to keep your body flexible and fit. It’s also a way to release stress and negativity in your body. These feelings can make you not feel like sex or enjoy it less, because you’re not able to be fully present. Of course, you also burn calories by doing these exercises. The only thing you need is a comfortable mat, and off you go!

Losing weight through sex

Sexologist Yvonne Kristín Fulbright came up with some tips for those who want to lose weight through sex. Some examples:

  • Set a goal of having sex 3 to 5 times a week, for about 30 minutes.
  • Do it at times when you’d otherwise be hanging out on the sofa in front of the TV.
  • Slowly build up your routine; for example, start with 2 times 15 minutes per week.
  • Focus on your physical strength, endurance, and flexibility.
  • With 30 minutes of sex, you burn (depending on the intensity) between 15 and 350 calories.
  • A long sex session can burn up to 1650 calories.
  • Keep your focus. It’s easy to get distracted during your sexercises, but in the end, it’s all about the workout.
  • Variation is important. By alternating, your sexercises stay exciting, arousing, and challenging.
  • Stay creative to avoid boredom.
  • Take a break if you want.
  • Drink plenty of water and use plenty of lubricant.
