Create your own luck: the power of manifesting

manifesting

We often think too much about the things we don’t have, unpleasant events and bad memories. We aren’t happy with our current job, lack of money, or the fact that we haven’t found the love of our life yet. But what if you could change your life by manifesting? And make the life of your dreams a reality? In this article, we explain how manifesting works.

What is manifesting?

Manifesting might sound a bit vague, but there are two ways to look at it. You can look at it from a spiritual point of view: by having a specific intention, visualising it and saying it out loud, you’re sending it out to the universe (or God or Higher Power). The universe then provides you with what you want to manifest. It’s kind of comparable to the law of attraction. But you can also look at it in a more sobering way: that which you pay attention to is what will grow. By thinking and acting in a positive way, you will automatically focus more on the good things in life and, because you don’t see as many obstacles, your life will become easier.

“Manifesting is about having and sending out positive thoughts and intentions.”

In short, manifesting is about having and sending out positive thoughts and intentions. However, it’s not like you can wake up on a Monday morning and say: “This week I’ll become a millionaire,” and, then on Friday, there’ll suddenly be three million in your bank account. But manifestations almost always come true, just not always in the way you thought. You need to be patient and have faith.

That which you pay attention to will grow

When you’re in your car on the way to work, and you think, “Oh no, I have so much to do, I don’t have enough time, and I don’t feel like doing half of it,” then you’re manifesting a lousy day for yourself in which you won’t have enough time and will dislike the work you do. But you could also think: “I’m happy I have a job that earns me money and where I can use my talents! I’m going to try my best to finish as many tasks as possible today so that I can take it a bit easier the rest of the week.” This way, your day starts off in a completely different way and you’ll it will probably be a lot more positive!

“With selective attention, you focus on a specific topic, allowing everything unrelated to that topic to fade into the background.”

Have you ever heard of selective attention? With selective attention, you focus on a specific topic, allowing everything unrelated to that topic to fade into the background. A simple example: count all of the red cars you see on your way to work. After half an hour, you might have counted 20 red cars, but do you remember how many blue cars you’ve seen? Or can you tell what music you were listening to? Probably not; since you were focused on red cars, those were the things you noticed the most. And all of the other stuff? You probably didn’t even see those. Specific opportunities are not necessarily more likely to appear when you’re manifesting them, but, because you’re so open to them, you’ll notice those opportunities more and take the chance when you can.

How to start manifesting

Sounds good, right? But how do you start manifesting? Let us explain it to you! You can start manifesting in three steps.

Step 1: What do you want?

Think about what you want. Write your goal down and share it with family and friends. Say it out loud. Define your manifestation goals in the present tense. In other words, as if it were already true. For instance, you can say: “I have a lot of time for my friends, I’m in a relationship with the partner of my dreams, I have a great job.”

Step 2: Imagine what it would be like…

In the second step, you go a little bit further than just defining your goals. Now, you imagine what it would be like to have reached your goals. What will your life look like when you have enough time to spend with your friends? What are some of the fun things you can now do together and how does that make you feel? Or imagine what the partner of your dreams would look like, what your time together will be like and what nice and warm feelings this will give you. And that amazing job? What will the office of your dreams look like? How will you walk around your office? Can you already imagine how you’ll laugh with your successful colleagues over lunch about that great deal you’ve just made? By imagining what your life will be like after achieving your goals, they start to become more real.

Step 3: Time to take action

Nothing just happens by itself. So, for step three, you need to think about what steps you need to take to get closer to your goal. You won’t meet the man or woman of your dreams if you close yourself off to love, don’t leave your apartment or ignore any and all advances from interested parties. An excellent step to take would be to open yourself up to the idea of love, going out to places where you can meet potential lovers more often or saying ‘yes’ more when someone asks you out on a date. A great job opportunity also doesn’t come out of the blue, so it might be a good idea to work on your LinkedIn profile or take courses to increase your knowledge. Try to build a network and step out of your comfort zone.

And then… be patient and keep having faith in life.
