How to deepthroat like a pro

deepthroat

Deepthroating – you’ve probably heard of it. The receiving party generally really enjoys it, but the person giving the blowjob can experience gagging and other unpleasant sensations. Fortunately, you can learn to deepthroat. Curious to find out how? Read on!

deepthroating:
verb

The sexual act, a form of fellatio, in which a person takes another person’s erect penis completely into their mouth and/or throat.

What exactly is deepthroating?

We already provided a small description above, but let’s dive deeper into this. You can put deepthroating in the same category as giving a blowjob. Deepthroating means taking in the penis as deeply as you can into your mouth and throat. For the receiving party, this can be a particularly lust-inducing sexual act. As the penis goes much deeper into the mouth and throat, the recipient experiences an incredible all-round stimulation, which is mostly focused on the head of the penis.

The gag reflex

Someone who’s not very experienced in deepthroating may face some difficulty with this. This is often caused by the gag reflex: you may start to gag when you try to deepthroat. This is not necessarily something that happens all the time, but of course, you don’t want it to happen to you during sex. It really depends on how trained your ‘gag reflex’ is and if deepthroating is really something for you.

Deepthroating: how to

Do you want to become a real deepthroat pro, but don’t know where to start? Well, it’s mainly about relaxing your throat. Too much stress and muscle tension in the throat is not very conducive to a great deepthroat experience. You can practice relaxing your throat. You can try it with your partner, but to avoid uncomfortable gagging sessions, we’ve listed some other ways to practice:

#1 Your own fingers

Practising deepthroating is certainly possible without someone pushing on your head. Try using your own fingers! This is a great way to train your gag reflex. Slowly put your fingers as far into your mouth as possible, but stop when you feel you have to gag. Then wait for 10 seconds and try again. Keep repeating this with your fingers until you have fully mastered the reflex.

Some people will master it faster than others, but don’t give up! You could also try it with a toothbrush. Regular toothbrushes are often slightly longer than your fingers and it’s probably easier as well. You could even brush around the uvula with the bristles of the brush to provoke gagging, as an exercise.

#2 A dildo (with suction cup)

A dildo is great if you want to practice a bit more realistically. In this case, it’s advisable to choose a flexible model, as a dildo made of glass or metal doesn’t really flex during deepthroating. The most common dildo model is the one with a suction cup, and this is useful as you can position it in a way that works best for you.

Experiment with different angles to find the sweet spots and discover your limits. When using a dildo, the same rule applies; you may find it easy or very challenging! In any case, take all the time you need to explore the technique and, if you want, lubricate it or put a condom (try a flavoured one) on it.

#3 Positioning is important

Both when practising and during the real thing, your position is incredibly important! If you decide to use your fingers or toothbrush, you can choose several positions. Think for instance of standing in front of the mirror, sitting on a chair, or lying on the bed. If you’re going to use a dildo with a suction cup, you can lie on your back with your head just over the edge of the bed. Or lift up your legs and tighten your abdominal muscles. This can drastically reduce the chance of gagging.

Another nice position that’s also attractive for many is to sit on your knees with your head towards the ceiling. Remember to adopt a comfortable position that allows you to relax your throat.

#4 Your partner

At a certain point, you’ll naturally want to go for the real thing, but don’t expect too much the first time. After practising with less life-like attributes, it’s still wise to take it easy with a real penis. While deepthroating, don’t forget to breathe through your nose, stick out your tongue as far as you can, keep your chin up a bit, and see how you get on. Make sure you like it and don’t feel pressured. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. It’s very possible that this simply isn’t your thing!

Things to remember when deepthroating

With any kind of oral sex, there is a chance that it won’t go as smoothly as you would like. A good lubricant can make deepthroating a lot more pleasant and enjoyable. Besides using a lubricant, you could also choose to use a normal or flavoured condom.

Perhaps deepthroating is simply not your thing, and that’s totally okay too. You should never do something you’re not comfortable with, but of course, it’s nice to try something new for a change. It can be disappointing, but it can also be a great surprise. Open yourself up to a new challenge, and who knows, you might love it!
