How to give a sensual massage

sensual massage

Don’t feel like going out for a romantic date after a long working week? Organise a wonderful spa date with a sensual massage and relax with your partner in the comfort of your own home. Would you like to learn the tricks of the trade (or secretly leave the printed instructions on your partner’s bedside table)? Read on to find out how you can spend a relaxing evening in bed!

Create the right atmosphere

Dimmed lights, scented candles or incense, soothing music, pleasant temperature… Sounds great, right? A sensual massage is already nice in itself, but the right atmosphere makes it even better. Turn your bedroom into a mini-spa by preparing the bed with soft blankets and pillows, towels, and any other products you want to use. Keep all distractions, such as your phone, out of the bedroom and tidy up. Clutter is anything but relaxing.

Start at the beginning: the warm-up

When your partner lies down, check that all of their pain points are supported. Suppose your partner has a lot of pain in their ankles, put a rolled-up towel underneath for support. Has your partner found the right position? Then you can get to work! Start slowly, so that they have the chance to relax and surrender to your touch. Keep your hand on your partner’s body as much as possible. This way, they know where you’re touching them, but it also forms a deeper physical connection.

Now you can slowly try to discover where there is tension in the body. Spread your fingers as far as possible and try to gently feel with your fingertips where the tension is in the parts of the body you want to massage. Move your hands from the outside in and from the bottom up. For example, start at your partner’s lower back or side and then work from the outside in and from the bottom up. Ideally, you should always massage towards the heart.

Comfort and communication

Communicate with your partner. What do they like? Are you pushing too hard, or could you push a little harder? Pay attention to the reaction of their body while you’re working. Don’t do the same thing all the time; experiment, feel, and ask your partner what does or doesn’t work. You want to make your partner as comfortable as possible.

Tip: focus on sensitive body parts. For women, these include the neck and shoulders, and for men, the lower back. But don’t skip the rest! Arms, ears, stomach, thighs, back of the knees, feet… Tension can build up everywhere, so find out where your hands are needed most.

Massage techniques

The most well-known, classical massage techniques are similar to the Swedish massage. Basically, you only need your hands and some oil. This is especially a good start for the beginner. In this article, we explain two techniques that you can use.

Effleurage

Effleurage is a massage technique that consists of rhythmic strokes using light pressure with the palms of your hands. Keep your fingers close together and make long or short strokes as far as possible in the direction of the heart and back to the beginning. Apply more pressure to the upstroke, towards the heart, than to your movement back down. Repeat this a few times; it can be done on almost any part of the body.

Pétrissage

With pétrissage, you knead the muscles and mainly apply pressure to tissues and muscles. This technique helps to relax and loosen muscles. Try to follow the shape of your partner’s body as much as possible and knead or roll the muscles with light pressure. Try to keep a steady rhythm while doing this.

Cooldown

Your partner is completely relaxed, and you are ready to finish. It is best to finish with the effleurage massage technique, the same technique with which you started the session. After this, you can step into a warm shower or bath together to rinse off the oil, put on comfortable clothing and crawl back into bed.

Choose your sensual partner in crime

Massage oil is of course indispensable, but you can also try out a massage candle or warming massage oil. Or go for a beautiful gift set. Make your partner feel pampered and seen ❤
